The movie Young Europe will be shoot with a Canon 5D Mark-II

The movie Young Europe bud from an italian and european project aimed at the road safety, of Matteo Vicino, fashion photographer and co-producer of the movie through the company Showbiz Inc. It will be the first national film production completely shoot with a Canon 5D Mark-II. The choice was made by the director after a year-long test of the machine, with the advice of the Californian film-maker Jesse Rosten and the photography director Gigi Martinucci and also with the collaboration of the Film Library of Bologna for the printing of auditions that confirmed the feasibility of the work. Canon 5D Mark-II marks the beginning of a technologic revolution that will allow each film-maker to realize a cinematic experience almost indistinguishable from the film. Due to the performance of the sensitivity of the Canon’ s sensor, the necessity of the lighting service is going to be effectively eliminated, with a marked cut of costs and an accessibility of set creation never experienced before. The movie, which enjoy the patronage of the Rossellini’ s Foundation and the Italian Federation of Cinema d’ Essai, based on the Matteo Vicino’ s homonymous novel (Alberti Editore), an unanimous story with three main characters – Josephine, Julian, Federico – catched from their everyday’ s young lives to the events that mark the dramatic turning point. The director said: “… In my opinion, the comparison with these machines marks the beginning of a cinema’ s new era. No digital camera used so far, from the RED CINEMA to the VIPER, has this straordinary performance. Early failures concerning the focus, for example, are nothing compared to what it can guarantee in terms of quality. It’ s no accident that next series of “Doctor House” will be shoot with this machine. To shoot a movie with Canon 5D Mark-II is not only feasible but also it completely changes the history of the film production as we know it. The machine has already been used at high levels in the advertising field, while the world of italian cinema seems to still have some distrusts. Good for us that we will have the birthright.”
Il film YOUNG EUROPE sarà girato con Canon 5D Mark-II

Nasce da un progetto italiano ed europeo rivolto alla sicurezza stradale il film Young Europe, di Matteo Vicino, fotografo di moda e co-produttore del film attraverso la società Showbiz Inc. Sarà la prima produzione cinematografica nazionale interamente girata con Canon 5D Mark-II. La scelta è stata fatta dal regista dopo un test della macchina durato un anno, con la consulenza del  filmaker californiano Jesse Rosten e del direttore della fotografia Gigi Martinucci e la collaborazione della Cineteca di Bologna per la stampa dei provini che hanno confermato la fattibilità del lavoro. La Canon 5D Mark II segna l’inizio di una rivoluzione tecnologica che consentirà a ogni filmaker di realizzare un’esperienza  cinematografica pressochè indistinguibile dalla pellicola. Grazie alla resa di sensibilità  del sensore Canon, viene di fatto eliminata la necessità del service luci, con una netta riduzione di costi e un’accessibilità di creazione set mai sperimentata prima. Il film, che gode del patrocinio della Fondazione Rossellini e della Federazione Italiana Cinema d’Essai, è tratto dall’ omonimo romanzo di Matteo Vicino (Aliberti Editore), una storia corale con al centro tre  protagonisti – Josephine, Julian, Federico – colti dal quotidiano delle loro giovani vite fino agli eventi che ne segnano la drammatica svolta Il regista ha dichiarato: “…Confrontarsi con queste macchine segna, a mio parere, l’inizio di una nuova epoca per il cinema. Nessuna macchina digitale usata finora, dalla RED CINEMA alla VIPER, ha questa straordinaria resa. I problemi di gioventù riguardo a messa a fuoco, ad esempio, sono poca cosa rispetto a ciò che essa può garantire a livello qualitativo. Non è un caso se la prossima serie di “Dottor House” sarà girato con questa macchina. Un film con la Canon 5D Mark II non  è solo fattibile, cambia completamente la storia della produzione cinematografica per come lo conosciamo. La macchina è già utilizzata ad alti livelli in ambito pubblicitario, mentre il mondo del cinema italiano sembra avere ancora qualche diffidenza. Buon per noi che avremo così la primogenitura”.

Josephine, the beautiful Parisian, hiding herself behind the perfect care of appeareance; the “captain” Julian, in his Dublin, is looking for an almost absolute rigour in basketball’ s geometries; the sentimental Federico is an electric charge still without an employment. Around them, on the background, there are figures of inattentive and detached parents or “big brothers” – Angelo, Alicia – who head off them more to overlook instead of generosity. Facts of reality – judges Falcone and Borsellino’ s affair, Gilles Villeneuve, Ilaria Alpi e Anna Politovskaja’ s tale, the ketamine – mingle with characters’ thoughts and emotions, with the sound texture of musical quotations – Muse, historical Queen and Kurt Cobain – to create a training novel which is, at the same time, a fresco generational designed with a clear participation.Young Europe is an everyday’ s story told sometimes ironically, with a nervous language and a syncopated rhythm, which ends in a violent way. Matteo Vicino, born in 1972 in Bologna, found as a musician. After a ten-year experience as actor and comedian (Declaration of Love by Pupi Avati as an actor and participation as a testimonial comedian for companies) became a fashion photogapher and a theatrical director. The direction and the interpretation as protagonist of the play “Icaro”, brought him to collaborate with the leaders of the Ministry of the Interior who made him a trainer and a communication expert for new generations. He became a documentary maker (Report Montecatone, special mention for Giffoni Film Festival 2007) and finally film director with the movie “Young Europe). In 2010 he started out with the homonymous book “Young Europe”. His artistic versatility allows him to combine the visual language with the literary and the musical one with astonishing ease.

Matteo Vicino, bolognese classe 1972, nasce come musicista. Dopo un’esperienza decennale come attore e comico (Dichiarazioni d’Amore di Pupi Avati come attore, partecipazioni come testimonial per aziende come comico) diventa fotografo di moda e regista teatrale. La regia e l’interpretazione come protagonista dello Spettacolo teatrale ” Icaro ” lo portano a collaborare con i vertici del Ministero dell’Interno e lo rendono un formatore ed esperto di comunicazione per le nuove generazioni. Diventa autore di documentari (Report Montecatone, menzione Speciale al Giffoni Film Festival 2007) e infine regista cinematografico con il film “Young Europe”. Nel 2010 anche il suo esordio letterario con il libro omonimo “Young Europe”. La sua poliedricità artistica gli permette di coniugare il linguaggio visivo a quello letterario e musicale con sorprendente facilità.
